What happened to Slither.io?

Slither.io, a classic game in the IO genre, appears to be struggling to load. Players returning after a while for a quick nostalgia hit might be shocked to see that the web version seems doesn't load or get stuck in an infinite refresh loop.

Is Slither down? Or worse yet, is Slither.io gone forever? Don't panic! You can still access Slither.io today. All you need to do is remove the https:// and replace it with http://. The HTTPS version of the site seems to be broken at the moment. But you can still access your favorite .io classic by going to http://www.slither.io.
